How it works

Anyone in the UK aged 18+ can open an account

You’ll be asked to send a couple of docs to prove your ID and address

Your new account, with £30 in it, will be ready to use in 1-3 days
*Subject to successful document submission, checks and verification

Is this safe?
Our UK partner bank is Clearbank. They safeguard your funds, by depositing them in a separate account at the Bank of England. This just means your money is protected. You can still access your account, make payments and transfer funds as with any other account.
We’re approved by the Financial Conduct Authority like all other banks and electronic money institutions in the UK. Our reference number is 938000 if you want to check us out.
We don’t lend money. Your money is securely held, just for you.
Got questions? We’ve got answers:
Is this actually free?
Yes. It’s free forever. We’ll never charge you for your account. We won’t ask you to pay a minimum amount into to your account, either before it’s opened or after.
And if you never use the account again, that’s fine with us. (Though we may close your account if it’s not used for a period of 6 months, as set out in the terms and conditions).
How will I access my account?
You’ll have an online account with a sort code and account number, just like any other account.
You’ll be able to access this through your phone or computer, using the login details you create when you open your account. .(currently we have iOS app & google should be up and running in a week).
How long will it take?
Between 1 and 3 working days from when you send in your documents
Do I need to send the documents in hard copy?
No. You’ll be able to send them online.
Can I close the account once I have my £30?
Yes. You’re free to do this any time.
Can I use UnisonPay like a normal bank account?
Nearly but not quite. You’ll be able to transfer money in or out as much as you like, but we can’t yet issue cards. Once we’re fully launched, you will be able to get a virtual or physical card. We also don’t provide loans or pay interest.
How can I get the £30?
Just open your account and send the 2 documents we ask you for online. You’ll have the £30 as soon as you’re approved.
How can I contact you?
We’re available via email any time at [email protected]
What documents do I need to send you?
1 proof of your ID: a passport, driving licence or recognised ID card. 1 proof of your address: such as a utility or council tax bill, bank statement, or letter from HMRC* If you’re a temporary resident of the UK, you’ll also need to provide your UK residence permit.
*see the terms and conditions for full details of acceptable proof of address.
What can I do with the £30 reward?
Anything you like! But because we’re new, we don’t yet issue cards (that’s coming soon). So you’ll need to transfer it out to another account if you want to spend it straight away.
I’m a student. Can I still open an account?
Yes. As long as you’re aged 18 or over and live in the UK. You don’t need to prove income.
